HOMELESS WOMEN AND CHILDREN NEED YOUR HELP NOW!

I can't believe it when I read about a dog that was discarded and near death and the overwhelming world-wide financial support poured in to save this dog's life. I am an animal lover and have more dogs, a cat, birds, fish than most people--to say the least, I am an animal lover. But, for God's Sake, people, when are we going to help other human beings in the same manner and with as much enthusiasm?

Shannon's Hope Maternity Home has been operating since 1982 in the State of Colorado, originally out of the founder's home. It was her prayer, and that of another visionary, to offer a safe place to call home for pregnant women who have been discarded by society. These women have taken a major step in their lives to give birth to the unborn, offering those children life- even a better life than each of these women had lived through.

The program offers them the opportunity to work through stages progressing to a place of independence and confidence in their own abilities. Each woman has a story, many have experienced abuse, drug and/or alcohol addictions, jail, social service hearings and court proceedings to have their parental rights taken away, stripped of their personal self worth and dignity. They are broken mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically. Shannon's Hope, and the kind and open arms of the people involved in this ministry, help to restore the years the locusts have eaten through biblical principles and the Word of the Lord. To maintain at all times through and within the facility of Shannon's Hope an atmosphere and practice of faith, hope, and love.

Scoff if you will about the Christian faith. But, I tell you, there is a God and He is weaping over the inhumanity of man one to another. Some people boast of CHANGE they voted for, yet do nothing to make tangible CHANGE in a desperate woman's life. But, your prayers and financial support are extremely necessary and greatly appreciated.

I am certain that if you visit the website http://www.shannonshope.org/  you will see that we are sincere about the outreach and the changed lives that walk through our doors. Shannon's Hope and our Director of Ministry, Les Pottebaum, have changed the perspective of the courts, social service workers, attorneys, hospital workers and police in the Denver metro area about whether there is any place able to help these women. They have learned that Shannon's Hope is the answer and a hope for the future. But, operating on a shoe-string budget does not get the word out to others who are like-minded. Mrs. Pottebaum was recently awarded the "7Everyday Hero Award" and featured on Channel 7 television in Denver in June and July, 2010.
